The Queensland Ambulance Service is established to provide ambulance services, to protect persons from injury or death during rescue activities and to provide transport for persons requiring medical or health care facilities.

  • Sections 3A, 3D

A driver of a vehicle, to the extent practicable, is to give clear and uninterrupted passage to any ambulance with warning devices sounding or warning lights activated. Maximum penalty for failure to comply is 50 penalty units or 6 months imprisonment.

  • Section 42

A person is not liable to pay for ambulance services if that person is a resident of Queensland or a full time student, under 25, at a Queensland educational institution. Other exceptions also apply.
