The government may, on the Premier’s recommendation, employ a person as a staff member in the office of a stated Minister. A ministerial staff member is subject to the direction of his or her employing member and the Premier.

The government may, on the recommendation of the Leader of the Opposition, employ a person as a staff member in the office of the Leader of the Opposition.

The government may, on the recommendation of a leader of a political party or independent member, employ a person as a staff member in the member’s office.

Reason for law

To provide for the proper work performance and conduct of staff members employed in the offices of particular members of the Legislative Assembly. (Section 4)
