Queensland Mental Health Commission Act 2013 – 1 July 2014

The Queensland Mental Health Commission is established to prepare a whole-of-government strategic plan for the improvement of mental health and the limiting of harm associated with substance misuse, and to monitor and report on the implementation of that plan (among other functions). For the definition of ‘substance misuse’, refer to the Schedule of the Act.

The Queensland Mental Health and Drug Advisory Council is established to provide advice to the Queensland Mental Health Commission on mental health or substance misuse issues (among other functions).

Reason for law

To establish the Queensland Mental Health Commission to drive ongoing reform towards a more integrated, evidence-based, recovery-oriented mental health and substance misuse system. (Section 4)
